Are nurse practitioner programs as competitive to get into as an associate or bachelor degree nursing program?
It’s the general opinion of the nursing community that the difficulty of the acceptance process into an education program is parallel to the level of education you seek. As you advance your education, so does the competition. From personal experience, gaining acceptance into my MSN Acute Care Nurse Practitioner was significantly more difficult in every way compared to my entrance into any of my prior educational pursuits (that includes my RN diploma and my Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing). The application requirements, the application process itself and the grueling interviews were all stressful and challenging because of the higher level of minimum requirements needed to gain entrance into the Masters of Science in Nursing.
